Bryan Alston leads State Circle Strategies, a seasoned government affairs professional who has served in leadership roles in Annapolis and in the public and private sectors for over twenty years.
A trusted adviser among clients and legislators alike, Bryan does more than advocate on behalf of clients – he leverages an “in-the-trenches sensibility” to offer expert tactical guidance informed by decades of legislative, political and public relations experience. Working at the nexus of business, public policy, and politics, Mr. Alston has assisted clients in a range of areas including appropriations, renewable energy, tax incentives, health care, regulatory issues, and the medical cannabis industry. He develops and executes effective tailored government affairs strategies at all levels of government producing positive outcomes for his clients.
Prior to establishing State Circle Strategies, Mr. Alston served as Chief of Staff in the Maryland General Assembly to a state senator who was a member of the power Budget and Taxation Committee and Chair of the Baltimore City Senate Delegation; he oversaw day-to-day operations, legislative activities, and managed legislative staff in Annapolis and district offices.
Mr. Alston, a manager and policy advisor in the Administration of former Governor Parris N. Glendening, oversaw several key initiatives of the Administration including the Governor’s Office Neighborhood Grants program. Bryan coordinated inter-agency activities with various branches of State government, engaged in statewide community mobilization and outreach efforts, liaised with county and municipal elected officials throughout Maryland and Members of the General Assembly while at the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) under Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. Mr. Alston served as the Administration's liaison on several Governor's Task Forces.
In addition to his work in government, Bryan has extensive experience in the political arena, having worked as a campaign consultant on numerous successful campaigns. He served as Campaign Manager in the successful re-election campaign for the Speaker Pro Tem of the Maryland House of Delegates, Adrienne Jones, now Speaker of the House, during the 2014 election cycle. Mr. Alston’s political experience includes developing and implementing campaign plans and coordinating campaign operations. Mr. Alston was elected to the Maryland Democratic State Central Committee representing legislative district 44 in Baltimore City, where he served as district chair.
